Bisexual Question and Answer Archive

I am a bisexual male. My sexuality has been the same since I was about 14.  I never was honest about my feelings with myself until recently, I am now 29.  I joined a bisexual mens support forum.  There are a handful of gay men on it, openly gay men that is.  The rest seem nothing like me.  I stayed a virgin because I did not want to do something that would make me regret my sexual experience.  That and I also thought men could only be straight or gay.  I felt so confused and indecisive.  On top of that my folks are pushing for heterosexuality.  Every attempt I made to discuss it with them was met with, “that happens to everyone”.  After exploring my feelings, I find I truly am bisexual.   How do I live out?  The idea of people knowing horrifies me.

I think living "out" has more to do with you than those around you. Believe it or not you've accomplished the hard part, admitting it to your self. There is no need to shout it from the rooftops and you don't have to come out to everyone. If you were straight, would you be telling your boss about the girl you hooked up with. Not everyone needs to know that aspect of your life. Just be true to you, and don't feel ashamed. Start with your friends. And try to not be disappointed if others don't appear too receptive to the idea right away. Some people just need time. Good luck to you!

It’s good that you’re going to a Bi mens support group. Hopefully through more introspection, you can understand the internalized homophobia that you are feeling. You are not alone, thanks for sharing.
