This is probably really politically incorrect, but I decided to ask the question any way because it is something I have wondered about for years. I have known only a few lesbians, one whom was a close friend. She had been molested as a child. She had a theory that some women who were molested prefer the same sex because they have trauma associated with the opposite sex. Recently, I read a theory on gay men that was interesting, but hard to believe. The theory was that when some women have more then one male child (especially several male children), their immune system starts to attack the next male fetus, unless the fetus has more female attributes (I think the author said female hormones, but can’t remember exactly). The author claimed this is why men are gay. I believe that most people are born gay, but even if they are not, what two adults do is their business. What do you think of these two theories? Could either be true (not for a majority of gays and lesbians, but perhaps for a smaller group of gays and lesbians)?

There is no conclusive evidence to prove that either is true, so they are both false. There are women who have been molested who idenify as straight, just as there are women who have been molested who identify as lesbian. Also, there are gay men who have no siblings or other brothers.
