I am a 14 year old boy. I have had a few girlfriends in the past, however my thoughts are changing. In the past 2 years I have been more attracted to boys than girls. At present I am turned on by boys rather than girls and am in love with a certain boy, in fact we almost had sex at a recent party, we didn’t, but we kissed a lot. From this, am I gay?

It's so hard to say if somebody you've never met is gay or straight, based only on reports of a few incidents. Your question leads me to ask you if you are worried, one way or the other? The label is so unimportant. The important thing is that you have a healthy self-image. At 14 years old, you have more hormones raging through you, then you ever will. Give yourself plenty of time to figure it out on your own. Is this something that you can talk about with your parents? Would people in your family and community be supportive? Would you like a referral for resources, in your community, who can help you through the process of thinking this through? I believe sexuality is fluid. Especially at a young age - before society ingrains it in your head that you should only be attracted to members of the opposite sex. Love is love. Thankfully now with so many TV shows showing gay characters kids have a better chance of realizing that being gay is not a bad thing. So to answer your question - if you are looking for a label - yes you are gay if you foresee yourself only ever dating guys, bi if you'd like to date girls as well, and straight if you didn't want to pursue this boy anymore and go back to girls. But like I said, sexuality is fluid, what you like today may not be what you like next month or next year. My advice is drop the labels and be who you are in the moment!
