Gay Question and Answer Archive

Hi. I am a straight female 31, and my current bf is apparantly gay. I had known him for 5 years when I started to develop feelings for him and let them known to him. Within a couple of weeks he said he had feelings for me too and that he was still a virgin at 27. We decided to have sex and it was great. We continued to be friends and occasionally have sex. After about 3 weeks he said the reason he was still a virgin was because he was gay but never wanted to tell anyone. He has never been attracted to any other female apart from me. I was so shocked to discover that the guy I love and have been having a sexual relationship with was gay! We talked about it and I gave him a lot of support. Eventually we decided to be in a relationship with each other and I said that I would help him to have experiences with other guys. We have sex at least 4 times a week and he really likes it. I use dildos on him which he enjoys and he loves being rimmed. All this I am more than happy to do. We are now at the stage where we have a couple of guys lined up to join us. I’m worried that once he experiences with a guy that he will prefer to be in a relationship with one. I am also worried that he is only in a relationship with me to keep his family/friends happy and so they don’t suspect he is gay, and that he will want to keep having sex with guys. Should I get out of this relationship now before any hurt, or should I stick with him and let him have sexual encounters with guys. I have heard of straight female – gay male relationships that go well, but also some that havnt gone so well. So confused!! I appreciate any advice.

You should be in a relationship with someone that satifies you 100% emotionally and sexually. Look at your long term goals and see where this relationship lies within that scope. You are in a very fluid and evolving relationship, but you should not have to worry about a partner leaving you. That doesn’t sound like an emotionally safe place to be for you. Look at what your needs are and determine if they are being met. Remember, you’re health and welbeing should always come first.
