Hey, I’m a 20 year old gay male and I’ve yet to “hook up” with anyone yet because I have a fear of contracting any sort of STD. I’ve been going to local gay websites to try to meet up with someone for almost 5 years now and every time I get close to meeting someone, I back out in fear because I have no idea who this person is. I know most of the fear is just anxiety but I’m also paranoid that this person could have an STD. There is this one guy who I’m talking to now (he’s 25) and we pretty much agreed to me just giving him oral sex for now but every time we make plans, I make up some excuse because I’m so nervous. I end up going online in a frantic and looking at all the clues to spot an STD but it doesn’t help. Are there any ways to spot an STD by looking at a penis? Also, should I just take my chances by meeting up with a stranger? Thanks 🙂

If you want to write back and tell is the city you live in, we can recommend an organization close to you. Be armed with information and always...always use a condom and lubricant for sex. You should also ask any guy you are thinking about hooking up with about his sexual health. If he doesn't like the question then take a pass on the hookup.
