Awkward str8ie question ahead. Very close gay male friend said he would abort his own child if he could know that he/she was going to be gay, during a conversation about abortion and disability. His justification is that he would never put a child of his through the same hell he’s lived. Don’t feel I’m in a place to question that opinion, but it still seems…really sad?

It does seem to be an extreme answer. Although many LGBT’s had difficult lives finding acceptance and coming out, many more did and enjoy wonderful productive lives today. I do believe our experiences and how we handle ourselves shape our characters and who we eventually become.
