I’m not sure how I’m supposed to start so I’ll try this…. Dear Whom ever may be reading this, I am an adopted child of two moms and I have wanted to know more about their relationship for a long time now but am too nervous to ask. I want to know what it was like to come and tell my family and what their reaction was to them tell them this. I’m not quite sure why I’m nervous to ask. Is there any way I should ask to make myself less nervous? -adopted girl

I think the more you try to play out the conversation in your head the more nervous you will be to actually try and speak. Do it when the time is right - when you have her undivided attention and know you will have time to sit and talk.

And when that time comes just spit it out. Say "Mom, I want to know more about you, how you and mom met, what it was like coming out to your parents." I think she will be relieved to know that you want to know more about them. Kudos to you to want to open a dialogue to get to know your parents better!
