General Question and Answer Archive

I keep having sex and relationship dreams about this guy and now I’m really confused considering I’m straight.

This happens at times. The dreams can be interpreted anyway a person wants them to be defined. What matters is how you feel and react to men during your waking hours.

Dreams can be interpreted to mean many things, so you shouldn't automatically interpret your dream literally. I would focus more on which sex you are attracted to when you are awake.

Do not worry about your unconscious thoughts. Dreams are not real; they do not reflect your true desires. Everyone has had dreams in which his behavior was not reflective of his true self. Why, just the other night in a dream, I turned down a very interesting proposal from a very naughty Johnny Depp that I would N-E-V-E-R have turned down in real life; but that dream does not make me straight. Stick to being concerned only about your waking thoughts. You didn’t mention anything at all in your question about lusting for the other man in question while you are awake. Consequently, you do not need to worry about your sexual orientation. Your dreams can be attributed to a meaningless “mancrush” on a really cool guy you understandably admire because he has estimable qualities any straight guy would want to emulate. It’s perfectly acceptable for a straight guy to admire another straight guy for that reason, and it doesn’t mean that he is gay if he does.

Please write us back if things change. We’re always here for our straight readers, Dude!

I wish you fair winds and following seas.
