My mom doesn’t know I’m bisexual, but shes always making gay jokes, and to sum it all up rude comments about gay people. I try to explain that she’s just being mean and shouldn’t judge people, but she doesn’t listen, and it hurts me a lot! Help?

I don't know how old you are and what your living situation is with your mother. Making jokes at someone's cost is a sure sign of insecurity and fear. The jokes also keep a distance between her and real people. I would ask her if she would make this type of joke in a gay bar or in front of a gay person. Ask her if she would make a racist joke in front of a person of color. It is the same thing. Rude and disrespectful. She also does it in front of you because there are no consequences...

I am not sure if she knows if you are Bi. If she does this may be her way of cooping with it. If she does and she knows this hurts your feelings, then think about maybe creating or finding a new environment till she can adjust her behavior. I would start to find information about bullying and share it with her. Share websites with her such as PLAG and show examples of mature, intelligent parents who love and RESPECT their children. Try calling your local Gay and Lesbian Centers to see if they have any support for you.

You can choose your friends and sometimes you are stuck with family. Make the best of it and always be safe and find the best situations for you, always.

Good luck.
