My 18 year old son seems to attract allot of attention from young men who appear gay to me. I base my assumptions of their gender preference purely on mannerisms, speech etc.. Forgive me if my statements are stereotypical, I am simply being honest. My son and I were just in line at the grocery store and the cashier, who I assumed was gay could not keep his eyes off my son. My son appeared to not notice however, I asked him did he know the cashier when we left the store. He said no but, he noticed the guy staring at him. My first question is should I inquire further with my son regarding this topic? Could the young man have noticed something familiar about my son that made him feel that a little eye flirting was OK? Is this even any of my business? I have told my children that we accept them for who they are as long as they are happy and cause no harm to anyone, including themselves . In other words, keep it legal. Again, is this my business or do I just leave this matter alone?

First off I am happy to hear that you are accepting of your children no matter what their sexuality may be. Bravo to you, I wish their were more open-minded people out there like yourself.
As for your son attracting the eye of gay men, well it can be as simple as he's a good looking guy. Your question makes me wonder if it's more than guys checking out your son that leads you to wonder about his sexuality. Do you get the feeling that he may be interested in men?
Is this your business or should you leave this alone? Yes and no. The best thing you can do is be open and accepting so that if he does come to the realization that he is gay - he will feel comfortable talking to you and not feel ashamed or that what he feels is wrong.

If your adult son hasn’t told you about it, regardless of his true orientation, he obviously isn’t ready for you to know yet, and it isn’t much of your business, nor should you further inquire upon it.
