Out of the blue my friend told me she was gay. I was at a loss for words. How should I respond to her? Should I say whatever makes you happy? Or more?

Let her know you are proud of her and it doesn't change the way you feel about her. It takes a lot of courage to come out, let her know that you support her and want her to be happy.

Since the moment has passed. I would suggest when you are out and about take a second and thank her for sharing the information with you and that friends are friends straight or gay.
