Gay Question and Answer Archive

I don’t know how much of a specific question this is as opposed to just a need of advice, but, I’m in high school and there’s a guy who’s been in my class since first grade – so we know each other pretty well. The thing is, I really, really like him but I don’t even know where to begin. I’m certainly not going to jump into anything right now. It’s just, I’ve never really had any guy friends cuz I’ve just always gotten along better with girls. So me and this guy are friends but not best friends for life or anything. And that’s the first thing I want to achieve here – to be really good best friends. But I’m not sure how cuz (1) I don’t really know how to act around guys and (2) I especially don’t know what to say to him because I don’t want him to think I like him or anything… (Because by the way no one knows that this is what I am… And can’t even say it to myself right now…) So I guess… How do I get close to him as a really good friend and then from there how do I go farther? I’ve read stories about best friends, one gay one straight, where they’ll “experiment”, for lack of better word, while still maintaining friendship and their gay/straight identity… and then from there it goes on. How do I do this?

If you want to become friends with someone at school, then you go about it the same way as with any classmate. Find something school related that you to have in common, then go from there.
