I have lost 2 guy’sthat I was very close to in my life to suicide. I always wanted to ask questions about the roles that they play in a relationship. Is one gay guy more effeminate than an other? I have always felt uncomfortable about bedroom talk . I wish they were still here and miss them very much… What else should I know about lesbians. My neice came out to our family last year and still seems to be struggling with acceptance…can you help???

It’s all a matter of preference. Some gays will assume top or bottom and nothing else, while others go both ways and in their relationships they will switch to accommodate one another. The best thing you can do for your niece is to be accepting of her, and to let her know she has your support, and unconditional love. Showing acceptance and rejecting intolerance in public can be especially hard, even for a straight person. While I don’t advocate putting yourself in harms way, I do believe how we carry ourselves in public impacts others lives. If you reject intolerance, you will indirectly impact your niece’s or other LGBT’s life and may not even realize it. Thank you for being an Ally!
